Support Community Development: Sponsor Our Annual Membership Meeting

On December 2, 2017 Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation will mark a significant milestone as we host our 50th Annual Membership Meeting. In doing so we honor a promise in our five decades-old mission: to give the community we serve a voice in the work we do. At the meeting, we will report on the year’s accomplishments, elect Board directors, and approve resolutions to guide our work in 2018. This year’s theme - Dream. Build. Live: Fifty Years and Forward - perfectly sums up why we continue to do this work 50 years later.

Bickerdike was born from a community in crisis and has evolved into a community-led leader. Bickerdike was established in 1967 by a group of individuals and representatives of local community organizations on Chicago’s near northwest side. This group of neighbors joined forces to ensure that long-time residents would have a say in their community’s future. Today resident-driven community development is still vital to helping neighborhoods thrive. Bickerdike continues to build high quality, award-winning affordable housing in West Town, Humboldt Park, Logan Square, Avondale, and Hermosa. We are committed to community development and local investment that is both sensitive to resident needs and allows long-term residents to benefit from it.

Bickerdike continues to build in response to community need. To date, we have built or rehabbed over 1,646 affordable rental and for sale units. We also provide resident-centered property and asset management services for 1,094 rental units, which house over 3,200 residents. Just this year we added our 72-unit Nelson Mandela Apartments in west Humboldt Park and we moved forward on some of the largest development projects in our history. In the summer, we began a large-scale rehabilitation project of over 300 older units valued at $144 million. And in the fall, together with our partners, we closed on financing for Phase 1A of the redevelopment of the historic Lathrop Homes; now known as simply Lathrop, the property will be a mixed income development which will eventually consist of over 1,000 housing units and 25,000 sq ft of community and/or retail space.

Bickerdike prioritizes hiring and collaborating locally. We remain faithful to our pledge to create and preserve jobs for local residents. We are committed to choosing local contractors and vendors whenever possible so that we can bring jobs and economic development to our target communities. While we are proud of our vast housing portfolio and the strides we have made in the public policy arena to protect the future of affordable housing, we know our true impact is made on a human level, household by household, family by family.

We are reaching out to local partners like you with a request to support our mission by sponsoring our 2017 Annual Membership Meeting on December 2nd by donating at one of the following levels:

SPONSORSHIP LEVELS (Levels A-D qualify as 100% tax deductible donations)

____A) Gold: $3,000 and up your company’s name and logo will appear in large font on a banner; your name will be announced at our event; you will receive recognition in our annual report, on our website, on our community portal site The Humboldt Park Portal, and via an email blast to 1,200 newsletter subscribers.

____B) Silver: $2,000 Name and logo on banner (in smaller font than Gold level); name announced at event, recognition in annual report, on website, on portal site, and via email blast to newsletter subscribers.

____C) Bronze: $1,000 Name only on banner; name announced at event; recognition in annual report, on website, on portal site, and via email blast to newsletter subscribers.

____D) Friend: $500 Name announced at event and recognition in annual report.

____E) In-Kind Donation: We are not able to sponsor the event financially, but we will donate the following products and/or services: _____________________
